Its percentages not dollars

This seems too obvious but how many times have you heard people sit around and talk about how a stock went up $10 today or $20 and it was only a half percent. $20 on Amazon is not even 1/2 percent yet people ignore small-cap stocks that go up 5% or more in a day. That’s human nature. It’s percentages that count, not dollars.  This takes changing your habits. Most online stock programs will show you percentage moves. Start focusing on the percentages and not the dollars and you will soon find your portfolio making new dollar highs.

Our trading software has screens called Top 50 screens. You can select new highs, new lows, largest percentage gainers, losers, and largest dollar gainers and losers.  Why would you want the largest dollar?  We look for the largest percentage gainers.  Like a little boy in the candy store, we scan the charts hoping we will see one of our portfolio holdings on The Top 50 % Gainers and NONE on The Top 50% Losers.
